When setting up the Sprint Capacity Management in Plans I am only able to see details of the future sprints if the sprint has been created in a project. We capacity plan for 6 months out and the empty future sprints clutter the sprint backlog view. Any suggestions on getting the full sprint details in the Sprint Capacity Mgmt View without creating 6 months of sprints in the backlog?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Eileen,
Good news, this is actually a built-in feature, not something you need to work around by creating 6 months of empty sprints.
Advanced Roadmaps (Plans) has a concept called Projected sprints. These are sprints that dont exist yet in Jira, but the plan calculates and displays them based on your teams sprint duration and velocity settings. They show up in the plans timeline labeled as Projected sprint and carry capacity details just like real sprints, without you having to create anything in the backlog.
To see this working, make sure your issues are grouped by Team in the plans view settings, and that a sprint duration and velocity is set for your team in the Teams view under Plan settings. Once thats configured, the plan should automatically project sprints out as far as your timeline extends, capacity included, no manual sprint creation needed.
If you are already seeing future sprints (the ones actually created in Jira) but not projected ones beyond that, double check the teams velocity and duration settings are filled in, since projected sprints rely on those numbers to calculate.
Hope this helps!
