Permissions and Roles

Mohit Edupuganti December 16, 2024

I am new to Jira. I have created two projects in Jira.  Let's say the project names are A and B. Users in the project A should not be able to see issues in the Project B and should not be able to browse other projects as well. Users in the Project A should have access to only issues in Project A. Same requirement is for users in Project B. It would be great if someone can help me with this.

Hi Mohit - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The easiest (and best) way is to use a common Permission Scheme for both projects. Then edit the scheme to change the permissions for the Browse Projects permission (and also Edit Issue at the least) to use a Project Role - either an existing one or create a new project role.

Then update the access for people for the project to but the users in that role just for that project. Then they will only be able to see issues in that project.

Is this possible in the free version?

Sorry, no. There is no way to configure anything with Permissions and Roles with the Free subscription plan. Everyone has the same permissions.

Okay, thank you.

Is there any documentation that can assist me?

Documentation to assist you with what? You cannot grant permissions to users in a Free instance - period. What else do you need?

Mohit Edupuganti December 17, 2024

I understood that John. I meant if there is any documentation that I can use to study for certification. I apologise for the confusion.
