Permission

I have many projects on Jira. I go to each project then permission but I don't know how to set it. I just want to set permission for each project. How Can i do it because now everyone in my company can access all of them?  

PS  I set the domain of this Jira as my company email. So I'm not sure it is a reason or not

Hi @Dr_Win_ST ,

You can restrict visibility to projects via the projects permission scheme and Roles (found under People). 

I would recommend to have a few role based permissions schemes, where f ex: 

• Role Admin have all permissions
• Role Developer a little less
• etc ( you can create more custom roles if you really need them)

And then work with assigning users to Roles in each project (see project settings > People) 

Remember that browse permission gives the user ability to see the project.

Some assign users or roles straight into a permission scheme but I find that not sustainable over time. It is easier to work with roles and keep the permission schemes to a minimum and shared.

The roles list is centrally located Settings > System > Project Roles and contain default users per Role. If the basic license group is assigned as a default user to a role all new created projects will be granting access to all users.

Hello!

In Jira, each project can be assigned a unique Permission Scheme, or a single Permission Scheme can be shared across multiple projects. The behavior you're experiencing may be due to the latter scenario, where a shared Permission Scheme is applied to multiple projects.

I recommend checking the Permission Scheme settings for your project to see if it's using a shared scheme. You can do this by navigating to Jira settings > Issues > Permission Schemes and reviewing the list of schemes and the projects associated with each one.

If you find that your project shares a scheme with others, consider whether this setup is intentional and aligns with your desired permission settings. If not, you may need to create a new, unique Permission Scheme for your project or adjust the existing one to better suit your needs.
