I don't have "Permissions" on the sidebar. Help!
Hi,
Welcome on Community!
May I ask if you're an Administrator of your Jira Cloud instance? You should be a project administrator of the project you're browsing to see the menu and a global Admin to create new Permission Schemes.
Thanks
Yes, I am an administrator of the project and I have authority to create new permission schemes.

Is it possible that you may have used a new generation template to create that project? I've found those new templates preventing you from using a lot of feature (like Versions, Components...) with a few tips on what would remain available...

Indeed! That being said you should be prompted on the next Screen for the type of project with a few possibilities like this:
Those Next-gen template might be the reason why :/

Hi again,
So I was probably right: the Next-Gen templates are pre-built with certain features enabled/disabled or preset for you. One of those is the permission scheme being self-managed by Jira. You might want to use regular Kanban template to prevent this from happening.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

Glad you've managed to resolve this issue.
You may also want to mark @miikhy's answer as "Accepted" so that other people with the same question would find it easier.
P.S. Wish I could be of more help :)

I am forced to use "Try a Next Gen Project" and here I do not see the ability to set persmission schemes. I am the administrator. Any leads on how to set permissions ? Thanks !!
