I am trying to give a specific user role the ability to create 'Fix Versions' so that when creating a deployment, they can create the 'Fix Version' supplied by our development team.
I am a Jira Site Administrator and whilst I could give the user role the 'Administer Projects' permission, this will open up more access than required.
When researching online, documentation suggests that I should have a permission within my permission scheme 'Manage Versions', but this doesn't show. I have asked other Jira Admins in our business to check also and it doesn't seem to be available.
Is it possible it has been removed and documentation has not been provided to reflect this?
Hello @Phill Berry
Welcome to Community :)
Adding to what Victor shared regarding the permission.
The manage versions ( release) is a new permission that is being rolled out to all customers
Please find more details here: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-articles/Announcing-new-permission-for-Version-management-Releases-in/ba-p/3102212#M20409
Could you please check under your release track if the jira is bundled or continuous
https://admin.atlassian.com/o/xxxxxxxxx/release-tracks
If its bundled you are yet to get the feature.
But you can reach out to https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ by raising a ticket, and they will let you know further when this will be available for your instance
once its available you should be able to assign the permission
Thank You,
Prachi
Thank you Prachi, I hadn't seen anywhere that this was new functionality!

Hi @Phill Berry
Can you please verify the project type of the Jira project?
There should be a Manage versions permission under the Software Company-managed permission scheme.

Thank you.

Hi Viktor,
Thank you for your response, I was looking in the right place but don't see the option:
I confirmed also, it is a company managed.
