Pasting from excel adds attachement

When pasting in the search box a value fro excel, JIRA adds an attachment to the issue that is currently open. Is there any way to prevent that?

Yikes, and... I just searched and this is a known defect:

Jira adds an attachment during search using pasted text from Microsoft Excel

There is a work-around described in the defect.
