Part register connected to objects?

Deleted user

Hi,

I'm looking into the best way to have a part register in Jira connected to objects.
Let's say:

Object X has part 1, part 2 and part 3

Object Y has part 4, part 1 and part 5

Object Z has part 6, part 4 and part 1

Is it possible to go in to ex. part 1 and see what objects are connected?

Is it also possible to go to objects and see what parts are connected?

What would be the best way to make this happen in Jira?

Hi @[deleted] ,

Welcome to the community!

I might be totally off here...

If you mean that an object = a Jira issue (aka a Jira ticket) then you can add a custom field called "Parts", choose a Select list (multiple choice) and ensure its visible for the jira project you work in.

==> This allows you to  "tag" your Jira issue with the correct part/s

===> which allows  you to see what parts the issue concerns.

Then if you're more in need of a register in which your "parts" have attributes on their own (like vendor, owner, status etc)  and you are on Jira Cloud Premium you can utilise the Asset functionality to build up a registry of parts there and connect it to Jira issues in Asset Custom fields.

best of luck

Lisa
