Hi,
I have recently configured parallel sprints within one of my org company managed software projects, for two different teams who share the backlog but work independently.
In backlog insights, I noticed the insight for recommended points is aggregating both parallel sprints (so the same value for both). I would like points to be recommended based on the commitment/completion of each team/sprint, otherwise I need to manually calculate the insight when doing sprint planning.
When I go into insights settings, I am only presented to toggle insights on/off.
If the reason for the aggregated insights for recommended points due to prior sprints which were not parallel? If so, can I expect the insights to split as more sprints are completed?
Hoping it is possible to have the recommended point insight by sprint/team.
Hi @kddc,
That "Recommended" is actually the expected velocity, which is most likely calculated based on the past sprints. But, it does not have the notion of teams and it calculates based on past sprints globally, not per team!
It is expected to be the same in my opinion, considering the above explanation. And I think there is no way to fix this or configure it somehow.
A solution would be to use an app from Atlassian Marketplace that is able to calculate the velocity for each team, in the context of parallel sprints.
If you consider the idea of using an app, then our Great Gadgets app can solve the problem for you. It has a Team Velocity gadget that allows you to filter the sprints - so you can use it to measure the velocity of each team in the context of parallel sprints.
This way you will have a "recommended" speed for each team displayed on the dashboard.
