Order tasks by due date - team-managed business project

Hi everyone,

I have a team-managed business project I use to manage my company's projects as Project Manager.

I am trying to find a way to order my tasks by their due date in the board view. Is it possible to do so?

Not that I know of - the Board is set to be ordered by rank, and you cannot customise that at this stage.

You can do it in Company-managed Projects/Boards, as the Board Filter can be customised to set the order of the Issues by Due Date. This isn't an option in Team-managed, although there is a feature request you can vote for/watch: JSWCLOUD-20902

If you don't want to transfer to a Company-managed Project, you could consider using Custom Filters to filter for different due dates as an alternative?

To create a Custom Filter, you'll need to be a Project Admin:

1. Go to Project Settings
2. Select Board > Custom Filters from the left-hand menu
3. Create a new Filter, and give it a name
4. Add a Filter Query, and press Create

The filter will then be possible to select from the appropriate menu on the board

You could set filters for things like...

• Due in 5 days
• Due Today
• Overdue
• ...etc

To allow for dynamic filters, you'll want to use date/time functions with these JQL queries - see how they work on this help page

I tried the second method you suggest for team-managed projects but couldn't find the settings you were describing. I have a business project could it be because of that?

I have looked at my colleagues software projects and I can find the Custom Filter section but not on mine...

I'll be watching that thread, thanks for sharing!

Custom filtering on Business/Work Management projects is limited. You find the filtering options here.

You are not allowed to add additional static custom filters, but you can do some limited additional dynamic filtering by clicking on "+ More Filters".

Another option is to create an additional board that you can use specifically to get additional filtering capabilities. See this article

As Trudy says, Custom Filters are on TM software Projects, but one of them is "Due this Week" - so that might be useful?

The Multiple Boards idea is also an option (thanks Trudy for sharing this!)
