Order of epics without rank

We have a board which doesn't use rank to sort issues, Filter Query is like this:
project in (BLUBERRY) ORDER BY Flagged ASC, Due ASC, Priority DESC, component ASC

Now, we can't sort epics in user story map with drag&drop:
"Ranking is disabled, as the Filter Query for this board is not ordered by ascending Rank. Please check your filter configuration."
But the epics are also not sorted using the filter query.

Is there any way to have user story map epic columns sorted automatically, e.g. using the filter query? Or to sort the columns manually, if a filter query instead of rank is used?

Story-map version is 5.1, JIRA is 7.6.11

Hi ageraldy,

We can definitely work on rendering the issues in the filter order when not using Jira's Rank field, I'll add an issue on our backlog to address this. We haven't heard or noticed this being an issue before, would you expect this to be more of a read only mode?
