Order By query is not working for the customised field

I want to generate a report based on one field, which is customised one (type of field = free text), however Order By clause is not working for this field. Is there any work around. Appricate your feedback.

When you say "not working", what do you mean?

When I order by a free text field, it works fine.  I think I am asking what you expect the order by to do and what you actually get.
