On form submission show ticket number?

Seems an obvious thing but I'm going round in circles!

  1. I created a form to submit a bug
  2. A user fills in that form
  3. They get a screen saying thanks

Now what?  I need that user to know the ticket number, so they can chase it later with me.  If they go into the project then look in the backlog they can find it, but that is loads of extra steps for something they should surely see immediately.  There must be a way to customise the form submitted screen to include it?

Since this question was originally posted in January 2025 there have been some changes in the Forms functionality.

@Nathan Boudreau

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Adding to a post more than 6 months old is referred to as Necroposting and discouraged in the Community Guidelines.

If you are currently wanting to explore solutions to this problem please start a new Question post by clicking the +Ask a question button at the top of the Forums page.

In your new post please specify your environment type and the project/space type where you are experiencing the problem. Also tell us about the configuration of the access for the form, and whether or not your submitters are licensed users/customers. We will probably have additional questions after we get some of the basic information.

Also having this issue. There definitely needs to be a way to alert the form submitter what the unique JIRA ID was that was created.

Without that reference number, it becomes annoying for submitters to track down status of requests.

I have the same question. Notifications are turned on, set to send updates to "All Watchers, Current Assignee, Project Lead, Reporter" but no one gets notified about the created issue. That applies to any trigger event.

Looking at the Project email audit I don't see any "unsent items".

Slack notifications work, but emails don't.

Please advise.

Hello @Jamie Sutherland

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Do you have Notifications configured for your project so that Reporters get notified when they create a new issue?
