Old JIRA Epics already Done have recently showed up in my Backlog

Hi community,

Attaching 2x images as an example of what is going on in our JIRA.

I've checked multiple projects and it happens to all of them. Does any of you know how to solve it? I just want Epics != 'Done' resolution state to be visible.

Greetings,

Nacho.

Hi Everyone, this bug has been reported.

Here is a short video from my youtube channel with a workaround until this issue can be resolved.

Hello @Nacho Cortes @madhu.sharma @Charles Kato

Welcome to the Atlassian community for the new folks.

There is at least one other post reporting the same problem.

And I see it also in my Free instance.

I found a bug was opened today on this issue. You can click the "This affects my team" option and Watch the issue for updates.

Hi Nacho - This should be fixed now. Can you verify?

The Epic panel used to rely on the Epic Status field to determine if an issue would be displayed in the panel or not.  You would have to click on "Mark as Done" to set the field unless you were using another method (display on screen, workflow post-function, etc).  I am unaware if that functionality changed in the new UI, however I have a user complaining about all of his Epics being visible, so this is my assumption of what has happened, but it's purely conjecture on my part:

  • New UI was using the Status or Resolution field to determine visibility
  • Someone switched it back to using Epic Status
  • Didn't verify that the "Mark as Done" UI was still available to set Epic Status

@Brandon Fish

The functionality was changed months ago for the Epics panel to rely on the Status Category of the Status field of the Epic. If that Status of the Epic was green (making it a Status within the "Done" Status Category) that would remove the Epic from the panel. That is the Status field you see above the Details panel, not the old Epic Status field.

Thanks for opening that bug. We all appreciate it!

I didn't open the bug, don't want to steal someone else's credit. :D

I did try bulk-editing the Epic Status field for one of my users and it had no effect, so part 2 of my guess above was wrong.

We are facing the same issue. Was there a release that broke this functionality?
