Hi,
Is it possible to notify a watcher by email once they become a watcher?
For example, I open an issue in Jira and add person X as a watcher. Person X will receive an email once he/she become a watcher.
How can I change this in the settings?
Jeroen
Welcome to the Community!
Person X would not get an email to say you've added them as a watcher, but they would get an email update (depending on their notification settings) once something is updated on the ticket.
You could also use the @ mention in the comments to let them know you've made them a watcher.
Jira did have this as a feature request, https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-5494 but decided not to implement it.
Hope that helps!
Regards, Liam
So it's not possible yet? (without a mention or an update after you made someone watcher)
Can you add this as a future request? @Liam Green

@jstikkelorum I don't work for Atlassian so I wouldn't be able to add as a feature request - I think the above link shows that Atlassian do not want to implement it, although you may wish to reach out to them directly.
