Hi all,
I'm looking for a free way to send an update notification email every time a change is made to a JIRA issue (status changed or comment added) to a person's email address who doesn't have a JIRA account.
Is this possible?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi Philip - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Have you already create an automation rule to do this? If so, can you share that? If not, I would suggest you start with that - create a rule based on a Field Value Changed trigger. Select the related field.
Add any Conditions you might need.
Add an action for Send Email. In the To: field actually type in the full email address of the external user and then be sure to click on the value when finished typing. Add your message, Update the rule, and you should be good to go.
Post back here if you run into any problems.
Hello John, Thank you for your response.
That might work for sending non-JIRA user updates to all issues in a project, but I'm looking to have a third-party email updated on one particular issue within a project. As far as I know, the automation rules won't do that?

Hmm,
Not quite sure why this doesn't work... emails aren't being sent. I want that third party email to get updates to PROJ-62...

Hi @Humashankar VJ - not sure if you realized it or not, but you sent them to a post related to a different version of Jira, and one that does not have an accepted answer. Responses should be more helpful to the user and not send them to places that don't address their specific need.
