You are correct about that. Rovo is only available (at no extra cost currently) on paid Atlassian subscriptions, but not on the free plans.

To quickly add to what Walter said, even on free trials of Standard or Premium apps (e.g., Jira or Confluence), there's one more requirement > your organization must meet specific administrative and security criteria:

• Business Domain Requirement: Rovo cannot be enabled on sites where the organization is registered with a generic or public email domain (such as gmail.com or outlook.com).

• Admin Email: At least one Organization Admin must be registered with a verified business email address (e.g., name@your-company.com).

I know I was struggling with this for my non-profit Org where I had to add my business account as an Org admin to be able to activate Rovo 🫣

If, for any reason, you cannot activate it by yourself, you can reach out to Atlassian Support: Pricing, Billing & Licensing and ask the support team to activate it once you have fulfilled the mentioned prerequisite.

Mostly yes — Rovo isn’t generally included with Atlassian’s Free plans. Atlassian says Rovo is available with Standard, Premium, and Enterprise Cloud plans for products like Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management.

A trial can support Rovo, depending on which trial you started. Atlassian specifically says you can try Jira - Confluence - JSM with Rovo, and Rovo Dev also has a 30-day trial.
