Non Backlog Status Appearing in Backlog AND Column

The TLDR: I have a non-Backlog status showing up in the backlog even though it is not added to the backlog. It is assigned to a Kanban Column, and the issues also show there.

My PO that owns this project actually likes it there and wants other statuses there, I am working with that, but I need to know how this happens.  He has no actual workflow, only floating statuses for his issues.

2. The JQL of the filter query used by your board.

3. Specify if you are using a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project.

5. Show us the details of an issue, including the status, type, Create/Updated/Resolved dates, and Sprint field, that you think should be appearing but is not.

Can you provide images that show the details of an issue that is appearing in both the Backlog list and in a column on the board?

SC-118 appears in the column on the KanBan for that status and ALSO in the backlog

Thank you for that clarification.

That is by design.

Notice that your Backlog screen is broken into two lists; one titled "Ready for Refinement" at the top, and below that one titled "Backlog".

For a Kanban board on the Backlog screen the list at the top of the screen will be the items in the first (left-most) column of your board that includes a mapped Status. The list at the bottom of the screen will be the items in statuses that are in the "Kanban backlog" section of your Columns/Statuses mapping configuration.

I don't know why Atlassian chose to include the first board column as a separate list on the Backlog screen. This is not a configurable option, though, so you won't be able to turn it off.

Thank you for this. I don't spend a lot of time on the software projects as I am mainly working in the Service Desk side, so I guess I never noticed this about other projects.
