Is this Team-managed project? 

• If yes, select Project Settings -> Features -> Enable Kanban backlog.

Further information: Enable the backlog

For company-managed, go to Board Settings -> Columns and drag&drop status to Backlog column.

Hi 

It seems that the backlog may be disabled, which is why you are unable to see it. To enable the backlog, you will need to navigate to the project settings, select "feature," and then enable the backlog from there.
