No story points in Epic

deseymour October 17, 2025

I have the Kanban Default Screen Scheme set up and it is attached to Epics, Stories, Tasks, and Subtasks. For each work type, the Kanban Default Issue Screen is used. However, for some reason, Story Points is not showing on my Epic screen and I can't figure out why not. There are a few screenshots below to show, but let me know if there are other screens that would help.

Hi @deseymour ,

Thank you for your question. I hope you're doing well.

As a Jira admin, you can try to go to Configure at the bottom of the page from your EpicEpic.png

Then you can find why story points field is not showing on your Epic

Layout.png

That should set the context, and you can select where you want to display it.

If you are still not able to see it, please go to Jira Admin --> Work items --> Fields --> Story Points --> Actions ( click on the three dots) --> Context and default values.
There, you can find what the context is, check the details, and set it if it is not correct

I hope it helps.

Regards,
Hector

It wasn't in the Context as a work item for that field. I'm not sure why...so I added it and now it's there. Thank you so much.

Hi @deseymour , in the epic issue view did you check for more fields?

if you do not see it there, can you try clicking on the configure button at the bottom of the page and check to ensure story points is indeed configured as part of the layout.

This didn't fix it, but it is very good info. I was wondering where to do that. Thanks.
