Hi,
I am experiencing an issue while attempting to migrate from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud using the Cloud Migration Assistant, with the migration initiated from the Cloud side.
Migration flow followed:
Created a new migration plan in Jira Cloud.
Selected Jira as the application to migrate.
Entered the required connection details for the Data Center instance
Chose “Migrate projects and Marketplace apps.”
Selected “Select projects to migrate.”
At the step where I am expected to choose projects from the Data Center instance, no projects are listed. The list is completely empty, despite the fact that there are active projects present on the Jira Data Center instance.
I have a few questions regarding this:
What could cause the project list from Data Center to not appear during selection?
Are there specific network or firewall requirements that must be met for the Cloud site to retrieve project metadata from the Data Center instance?
Are there required permissions or global permissions that might prevent projects from being visible in the migration step?
Are there known limitations when initiating the migration from Cloud instead of from Data Center?
Where do you see the option in cloud to trigger a DC migration?
I haven't seen that, and the DC migration must be triggered in DC, not from cloud.
Can you send us screenshots of the section where you trigger the migration from cloud please?
Regards
Is this what you are mentioning?

Hi Aaron,
Thank you for your time.
Yes, that's exactly what I'm mentioning. I'm aware that's in EAP, but I thought I must've been doing something wrong, because this tool failed me on such an early step. I have already contacted Support in this matter. Thought that someone might have stumbled upon similar issue.

Hi there,
That Assets validation can be confusing, especially when you’re not even using it. A few things worth checking:
In your case, you may want to explore OpsHub Migration Manager (OMM), an Atlassian Solutions Partner. It allows selective migration without feature-tier checks, supports phased or full moves, and preserves historical fidelity including comments, attachments, links without downtime or disruption.
You may refer to Atlassian marketplace listing on Jira DC to Cloud migration for more information.
All the best!
