NextGen free - no backlog customization - card layout, broken columns, no custom fields

Trying NextGen project on Free tier.

Backlog view shows broken layout - all columns taking up only 50% space to left of screen. Entire right 50% is whitespace.

No way to customize backlog or board views, to display Labels or Custom fields on cards

This looks like either a completely broken alpha version or the free tiered is neutered so much that it's unclear what may be actually supported on a paid plan

There's two separate concerns here I think:

• A broken layout due to white space
• Customisation of the board

In regards to the broken layout, can you provide a screenshot? And have you tried logging out/in, a different browser, etc? I checked my Free instance on Chrome and it's working fine, so that sounds like a site-specific issue.

In terms of board customisation - it depends what you're trying to do. Next-Gen boards are not Classic boards - the level of customisation differs. You can filter by Labels (if you have at least one label on a card), group into swimlanes, have due dates on cards (will appear automatically) and control whether you use reporting, estimation, sprints and similar via Project Settings > Features.

But in terms of card colours, card layout (including custom fields on cards), issue detail view or similar - these are Classic board configuration options. These aren't available in Next-Gen in free or paid versions of Jira.
