New Dashboard overwrites system dashboard

Why does creating a new Jira dashboard replace my default system dashboard instead of adding to a dashboard list, and how do I switch between multiple dashboards without losing my system dashboard? It is how it works?

When you go to Jira Admin Settings -> System -> Default dashboard, what is your setup there?

As an Admin I can see "Default user preference" and "system dashboard" in System -> User Interface.

I would like to get the workaround in user's POV.
