Need to change sprint and backlog assignee to be changed to assignee(s)

Hello,

I need to change the default assignee field in our project everywhere as issues will be worked on by multiple people at a time. I have created an assignee(s) field which takes multiple users but I need that field to show instead of the default assignee field wherever it appears. Is this possible?

The grey icon is currently the default field.

To modify the card layout, please refer to doc https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-cards/#Adding-fields-to-cards section: Adding fields to cards.

Please note that the assignee field in Jira is designed to indicate the individual who is currently responsible for completing the issue. It should always reflect only one person.

Seems like I don't have the option to edit card layouts with the free version.

This feature is accessible in all versions, including the free version, but is exclusively available in company-managed software projects. Based on the image you uploaded, it appears that you are currently using a team-managed project type.

Nothing would stand in your way though to create a custom field that accepts multiple persons (type = multiperson picker). If filled-in, those can adorn your ticket in the supplied picture.
