In the backlog, usually it displays the number of points per sprint, but this seems to have disappeared. Is there a setting to get this back or is this a bug?
Not sure if you have the same issue, but I found the same issue this morning. I turned off "Enhance My Board and Backlog", and I can see the points now. Hope this helps you.
.
(edit: adding screenshots of what changed for me)
Not sure if my issue is the same. When I turn enhanced off, I can see the points showing at the bottom of my new sprint, and when it is on, I can no longer see them.
Thank you for the tip @Kevin Bond . I turned the enhanced board off and on again and they have reappeared on the enhanced board again too.

These number are the story points at 3 types of status (Grey for To do, Blue for In progress and Green for Done). It just appears whenever the sprint is started.
If you want it appears in multiple sprints, you need to start these sprints (run multiple active sprints at the same time). To enable this feature in company-managed project, please go to: Settings () > Products > Under Jira Software configuration, select the toggle for Parallel sprints (remember to log in as a user with Administer Jira global permission)
I hope this helps!

Thanks for the answer but we don't want parallel sprints, we just want the total points per sprint in the backlog to show - it used to up until this morning.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Could another board admin have changed the estimation statistic to a different field?

Thank You

Where would this have been changed/set and I can take a look? It is possible, but it would not have been intentional if so...

Board Configuration -> Estimation is the place to check.
