My issue collector issue goes into to do

When using Issue Collector in a Kanban project with the new Backlog feature added, the new issue goes into the To Do.  How can I get it to go into the backlog?  It's making a mess out of our To Do column.

Welcome to Atlassian community!

When using the backlog feature on Kanban Boards, the best practice would be to map the first status of your workflow in the Backlog column (Board settings > Columns):

Since The Issue collector will always move your issues to the first status in your workflow just like any other way to create issues, we recommend you to move the first status "TO DO" to the backlog column to be the first in your workflow, optionally creating another column/status to identify when the issue was selected for development and should be properly displayed in the Board.

Performing the steps above, the issues created through the Issue Collector will be displayed in the backlog of the board until it got moved to the section Selected for Development, so you can track its progress in the board view:
