Hello,

I've convinced the company to start using Jira.  However, my company URL is taken.  How do I find out if it has been taken by someone else, or a departed employee from our own company?

Thanks!

Hi @Hiten Sonpal

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!!

In most circumstances, Atlassian will not be able to release an instance URL that has already been taken I would suggest you to raise a ticket with Atlassian Support.

And Please check with Atlassian Support Team if the site deactivated or not.  One of Atlassian Team member has already replied for the same issue(Site is already taken).

Cheers,
Mayur

Thanks! The Atlassian Support Team got back to me and I was able to determine that the site was active and not available to us.  We picked a different site.

Hi @Hiten Sonpal and welcome to the community!

I don't think that there is something that you, or Atlassian can do. Most likely Atlassian, will not reveal any information regarding the owner of that specific domain. GDPR and stuff.

My two cents would be that you create an Atlassian instance with another name, similar to your company's. A long, long, long, long shot would be to try and contact that instance Jira Admin to persuade them moving out (as I told you...long long long shot).

Regards,

Alex
