Multiple parallel sprints- Can be planned but not started until the completion of above active spint

Hi, 

One of our client, up until this point could start multiple sprints on a Scrum board. 

They are unable to start a second parallel sprint on a scrum board. The start sprint button is grayed out and displays: "Can be planned but not started until the completion of above active sprint"

They said they were able to start parallel sprints on the same board up until now. I checked the board and in the productive environment it wouldn't work. I checked our test system with older data and I could start sprints just fine. 

In the meantime they closed the active sprint and started the one they wanted to start initially. Still, they want that in the future to be able to start multiple sprints. 

The option Parallel Sprints under Settings -> Applications -> Jira software configuration is enabled. The system runs on a cloud environment. 

Is there a way I can debug this problem and find out why a new sprint cannot be started?

Issue was related to custom plugin that interacted with greenhopper APIs.

It was always failing and returned an error.
