Hello all,

We are working in Kanban Boards and we got some different lanes.

Once we create the Parent Task and then add some Subtasks to it, we move the Parent Task to another lane but its Subtasks does not follow the parent.

How can we resolve this?

We do remember for example, in Scrum mode the subtask follows automatically the parent task when moving to another lane. Can we replicate this behavior somehow?

Besides that, our last lane on the Kanban launch a trigger that move the Task to another Project Team. We do know how to send the Parent Task but the subtask seems not to follow de Parent. Is there any solution?

Thank you so much in advance,

Adrian

Hello Adrian,

Welcome to Atlassian community.

The functionality to automatically transition sub-tasks when its parent is transitioned cannot be achieved using only JIRA. We have a feature request about this matter here:

Auto transition Sub-Task when the parent issue transitioned in a workflow

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

That been said, there are some options you can use to achieve this or at least a similar functionality:

1 - You can use the Sub-task blocking condition to block the parent task from been transitioned to the next status while their sub-tasks are not. Let me know if this is an option for you and if you need further details on how to configure it.

2 - You can use a third-party plugin to achieve the exact functionality you are looking for. Both Automation for JIRA or JIRA MISC workflow extension apps can easily achieve this, as instructed in the articles below:

Synchronize parent and sub-task issues with Automation for JIRA

Sub Tasks Transitions upon Parent Issues Transitioning with JIRA MISC

Let me know if this information helps.
