Missing column totals in new version of JIRA

Susan Hamilton

Since JIRA was updated with the new version/look, the column totals at the top are missing.  I tried reverting back to the older view and that lasted only for a few days and then the new view came back even though the setting says I won't be forced to the new view until 9/24/25.

Is there a way to add back the column totals?  We use swimlanes and in the old view it would say like 1 of 5 at the top of the swimlane showing that in that swimlane only 1 ticket of the 5 were in that swimlane for that status, example In Progress status.

In the screenshot for the Ready for Dev, that swimlane has 3 but the entire column has probably 15.  We used to see the 3 of 15 in the column header so we'd know there were 12 more in other swimlanes.

Hi @Susan Hamilton ,

The number you're seeing should be total number of items for each swimlane column. This display "X/<total>" will only be displayed if you add some filter to the board (e.g., filter by assignee) which looks like this:

This number represents only the number of items based on the swimlane query. If you wish to see the total number of items in the column, you would have to remove the grouping/set it to "None".

Hello Tobi,

In your first image where it says To Do 1/5 that's what I'm looking for at the top of the column.  The old version would do that in the column header it would show the number of all the tickets in that column.

Unfortunately if we select None from the Group, then the swimlanes disappear.

It sounds like you're saying with the new version, that isn't available anymore.

@Susan Hamilton yeah, this might have changed with the new UI. I haven't managed to find any related suggestions on JAC related to what you're looking for.

You could also try reaching out to Atlassian Support and discussing it with them. Potentially, they could create a new feature request which you can then monitor 👀
