Migration to Jira Software

Ashok G August 18, 2020

We have a 7000 tickets created in Assembla. We want to move those all tickets here at Jira Software. When we import to Jira we need the History of those tickets as well. i.e..when tickets were created, who and when modified the ticket? These details also need to copy to Jira when we import from Assembla.

Can any one send the format of Jira to Import so that i will give the data in the same format from Assembla.

Thank You!

Hello @Ashok G

Thank you for reaching out.

The only format that can be used to import the changelog history of issues to Jira would be JSON:

Importing data from JSON

Using a JSON file, you will be able to import any kind of changelog history (Fields, dates, authors, etc) together with your Jira issues.

That being said, I'm not sure if the JSON file exported from Assembla would be in the correct format to import in Jira, so please take a look at the documentation above and perform an export of an issue in your current Jira site to know how the JSON file must be structured.

Additionally to that, I would like to mention there is a third-party app provided by Gishtech that might make this migration easier:

Assembla to Jira Migration Tool

I'm not sure if the issue history would be included when using that app, but you can contact their support and confirm this information using this link.
