Migrating Jira 6.3 to 7.0 (Jira Software), best way?

Marc Romero Bosch April 24, 2017

Hi,

I have just started the task of migratin our Jira to another server, i was investigating about how to do it. I'm asking for the easyest way to do it (i don't want to have any problems) because i have any experience with jira aplications.
If I not misunderstand the proces i have to migrate jira 6.3 to another server with jira 6.3 too, and then upgrate jira 6.3 to 6.4 and 6.4 to 7.0.
Migrate: 6.3 --> 6.3
Upgrate: 6.3 --> 6.4 --> 7.0 (Jira Software)

Thanks

Marc

Marc, you can upgrade directly from JIRA 6.3 to JIRA 7.0 You are correct that you have to step to 7.0 before going higher. Please see: JIRA Software 7.0.x upgrade notes:

"If you're upgrading from an earlier version of JIRA and JIRA Agile, you need to upgrade to JIRA Software 7.0 before you upgrade to any later versions."

"Use the upgrade path JIRA 5.1 OR EARLIER → JIRA 5.2 OR LATER → JIRA SOFTWARE 7.0 The intermediary upgrade version is necessary due to upgrade tasks that were removed in JIRA Software 7.0.0."
