Migrate comments and attachments from free Jira version to the clients Jira

Katrijn Op De Beeck February 23, 2023

I have created a project on Jira free version, and we now need to migrate this project to our client's cloud, where they have a paid version of Jira.

Each user story contains added fields like 'test script' and 'acceptance criteria'. Furthermore, the complete history (peer review comments) is in the comments section. And we also have lots of attachments in each story.

Our IT support tells me I can export the comments, but I cannot import them on the client's Jira. Any clue how to do this without manually needing to update >200 user stories?

Hello @Katrijn Op De Beeck

You can import comments using the CSV Import feature.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/import-data-from-a-csv-file/

Search for the text "comment" in that article.

Alternately have you considered the option of a cloud-to-cloud migration?

Yes, but as I am on a free jira version, I am being told that migrating to a client's cloud would cause loss of attachments, audit trail, comments,...

Cloud-to-cloud migration is in Beta testing, but according to the documentation attachments and comments do migrate:
