Managed Teams not showing up in the default team field

We have the new Managed Teams experience in Guard. When I create a managed team, I cannot see it in the Team field. How do I make it appear?

Hi Praveen,

that’s a great question - and you’re right to notice that the new Managed Teams experience in Atlassian Guard works differently from the regular Team objects you see in Jira.

Why your Managed Team doesn’t appear in the Team field

Even though you can now create Managed Teams from existing organization groups, those teams currently live at the organization level and are mainly used for identity and access management (for example, for Atlassian Access policies, SSO, and directory control).

The Team field in Jira still relies on Atlassian Product Teams - the ones created through https://teams.atlassian.com or via People → Teams inside Jira.

At this time, there’s no automatic sync between Managed Teams in Guard and Product Teams in Jira, so they won’t show up in the Team field yet.

Current options

• If you need the team to appear in the Jira Team field, you’ll still need to manually create a Product Team at https://teams.atlassian.com and add the same members.
• You can, however, create a Managed Team from an existing organization group in the Admin Directory under Groups → Create Managed Team from Connected Group -this helps unify identity management, but it doesn’t yet expose that team to Jira fields.

What’s coming

Atlassian has confirmed that deeper integration between Managed Teams and Jira/Atlas Product Teams is planned, so that organization-managed teams can eventually be selectable in product fields like Team.
