Making jira cloud fields restricted to certain users

Hello Community,

My use case:

Restrict editing for custom date fields after the issue is created to ONLY a certain group or 2 (two) specific users for every issuetype and status.

Instance limitations:

Only Jira Cloud native features available; and no option to purchase add-ons.

Anyone been able to solve for this use case? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

@Apryl Harris  unfortunately, this option is not available.

You can't set user permission for system or custom fields.

The only workaround is to:

  • Hide field from the edit screen (you can leave it on create issue screen in order to be populated during issue creation)
  • In your workflow, create transition to same status: for instance from "To do" to "To do"...
  • Add user condition to that transition so only those 2 users can perform it.
  • Add screen containing that field to that transition.

Field won't be visible in the issue, but only those 2 users will be able to update it.
