Hi,
TIA, i know this has been asked before, but can I make comments mandatory and request for the person who changed to to put in a manual update?
Also, to reflect the author of the comment as the person who changed the due date, not "Automation for Jira".
Thank you,
AT
Found the answer, it is not automatically triggered, but can be manually triggered:
1) Automation Settings:
2) In the same automation page, click on "Rule Details" and change the actor to " User who triggered the event"
3) Go to Project Settings and Permissions and remove the rights for any user to update the Due Date
4*) Go to the Gear (Settings) > Issues > Fields Configurations > (Look for your config and click on it) > (look for the field "Due Date") > Click Edit to add a Description that that field can only be edited by automation.
Hello @Amanda TAY
There are two ways to make comments mandatory when some other field is edited
1. Make it possible to edit the field only through a Transition in the associated Workflow, not through any of the issue view UIs. Present a Transition screen that includes that field and the Comment field. Transition screens can be used only in workflows for Company Managed projects.
2. Perhaps use a Manual trigger Automation Rule that prompts for the new field value and a comment, and use the Automation rule to set the field and add the comment. The actor of the rule would have to be set to User who triggered the event. The ability to edit the field directly through the issue view UIs would have to be eliminated.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Hi Trudy,
Thanks for the answer, ideally it will only be done by method 2.
Am i on the right track? I still cant figure out the how the input field will know to put it into the comments...
Thank you,
Amanda Tay
