Make a text field read-only in UI, but ability to update it via API

Hi,  i have a custom text field (regular text field) that i want to make it read-onyl in the UI, but update the field value of a specific issue (key) using Jira REST API.

Is this possible and if yes, how?

Solved it by using text field that is read-only which can be updated using API.

Make sure this field is in the relevant screens as well (create, edit and view)
