Question for the community
We have a Jira Dev server and a Prod server
our issue seems to be when we loaded the Dev server to OKTA logins we lost Admin access to the DEV server.
the " Admin "group exists in Okta Azure AD
but only logs in using USER level access no cog for admin access.
my question is , if we swap license for a few min could we get back into the Dev server.
to find out why we lost access to the Dev server
unless someone has another option to access it ?
When they rolled out Okta the permission vanished
the AD group exists in Azure AD
the Server is on Prem version 8.13.6
it's being moved to Datacenter version.
We also had the same issue with Confluence Dev dropping the access.
Both use Dev license not Prod
I have Admin rights on both in Prod, but not in dev.
the order of sync is.
we also noted people dropping off the groups for no reason.
AD shows they exist, the server shows they exist but no groups.
sync is showing its working fine.
if we roll the date back on the server will the plug ins work again, we need to use one that is no longer supported to move it to the Azure. then roll it forward to update the server to the newer supported version.
Just to be clear you are on an on premise version of Jira and your regular Okta login's seem to have lost their admin privileges right?
A best practice is to always keep an admin account in your internal user directory for specifically these cases.
You can also do this by editing the DB directly or by starting the system with a recovery admin parameter.
I suggest reading the following documenation about that.
