I was wondering if there is a way to modify the scopes of a large amount of global automations using a script. Couldn't see anything in the Jira docs or HAPI docs for ScriptRunner.

Hi @Abdullah Mohammed -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Are you asking about Atlassian Automation rules?  If so...

I do not believe that is possible with built-in features as there is no public REST API for rules yet.  Here is the suggestion to add that capability: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AUTO-51

I have not tried this, but a possible workaround to try would be:

  • export your rules of interest
  • review the ruleScope and ruleHome in the JSON to identify the value(s) needed
  • import the rules again

One challenge with this approach is it will import the rules as copies with new names, such as "Copy of...".  I recommend fully testing in another site before trying this approach.

Kind regards,
Bill
