I know that if you comment on a ticket (create, are assigned, etc) you become a "watcher" and get email notifications when that ticket is updated. Is there a way to automatically receive updates of tickets that are LINKED to tickets you're watching?

Nope, you can't do this without code changes. Such changes are not possible in onDemand.
