I would like to create a new linkage type of causes or is caused by.  This is basically a parent child linkage type.  How can I do that?

Hi Mark - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Go to Settings > Issues > Issue Linking

There you can add a new link type. It won't be parent/child but you can use it for dependencies.

Hello @Mark Vreeke

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Follow the guidance in this documentation:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-issue-linking/

Note that Jira does not recognize these types of links as being parent/child. The only parent/child relationships Jira recognizes are the ones established by the Issue Type Hierarchy.
