Hi We have a JIRA which its license key has expired.
And we are required to upgrade it (without the support benefits).
I read about the upgrade, the upgrade it is about setting up new JIRA instance.
I want to ask this, can and how do we use the license that we have bought into the new (upgraded) JIRA instance.
I have been wondering this. I believe Atlassian should be allowing people to upgrade their JIRA with the bought license key (instead of purchasing a new one everytime an upgrade is needed).
Thanks a lot
I am assuming you are on the downloaded version verses the ondemand version. Your license is good for a period of time (1,2 or 3 years). During this period of tme you can upgrade. You need renew your license before you upgrade if it is expired to keep your sanity.
Hi Panguin,
JIRA license include software maintenance which will expire in 12 months. Software maintenance in this sense are including all updates and online support. This means, you can upgrade your instance to any version that was released before your expiry date.
So, for example your expiry date is 25th of July 2012, hence according to this download page, you should be able to upgrade till 5.1.1 release version without extending your license.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,

Hi, what is the cost of the 'renewing' or 'upgrading' the license? We JIRA unlimited users version.

I would request a quote using the link mentioned in the url below since you probably have plugins as well that propably need to be renewed as well. The sales people can take you through whatever steps you need to get a good quote.
