In our SM project (MPS) we are using the field Labels which is presently editable and free text is allowed.

We would like to set this field as non editable for all users (except for admin for ex) and provide a dropdown of options for the selection.

Is that possible?

Thank you!

Hi @Lavinia.Popescu and welcome to the Community!

No, that's the way a labels field is designed to work: it is the perfect combination of (semi)structured data that allows users to add options that are not in the list (without the need to have administrator permissions).

For the use case you describe, it is probably a more solid option to create a select list custom field with predefined options instead. If you are using this field in company managed projects, an administrator will need to set this up and make it available on your project's screens. In a team managed project, the equivalent field type is a dropdown (if I am not mistaken) and it can be configured by the project administrator.

Hope this helps!

Hello @Lavinia.Popescu

Unfortunately, labels are case-sensitive and can not provide a specific list :/.

One of the solution will be the one provide by Walter or something that works for us is to use Components instead that are easier to manage

Have a nice day
