Kanban and Scrum boards, where issues move from KB to Scrum?

Hi! I just got my team working on Jira and I'm working on setting up our workflow. Both boards are currently in the same project.

Here is how our workflow works:

  • Kanban Backlog
  • Requests Kanban board- Four columns: request defined, UI design, docs planning, ready for dev
  • Scrum Backlog
  • Dev Scrum board (During sprints)

My question is how do I make all issues flow from the Kanban board to the Scrum board? Since with our setup, all issues/features are first introduced through the Kanban backlog, they go through an initial design process and setup, and then they are ready for dev.

Once they are ready for dev, is it possible for the issues to be automatically sent to the Scrum backlog to be implemented into a future sprint?

Boards are not containers for issues, they are a view of a set of them.

To ge things to work the way you describe, edit the filters for the boards.  The Kanban board filter should ignore issues that have got a status past "ready for dev" in the workflow, and the Scrum one should ignore anything before "ready for dev"
