Kanban Swimlanes by Query: Like Assignee but a different field instead

I want to be able to group stories in a Kanban board by a user picker field that's not the Assignee. The list of possible people is not small and occasionally changes so setting up individual queries like Assignee = user1 and Assignee = user2 isn't feasible.

Is there a way to replicate the swimlane sort method of Assignee but with a different user picker field instead?

Hi @Eddie Hobart 

At this time, the individual queries you are trying by each user is the only way with built-in features.  There have been several suggestions over the years to add more fields to swim lanes, and now to the newer "group by" board feature.

Ok thanks for confirming. That's disappointing since it's a literal copy of existing functionality, but here we are I guess :)

Yes, and...I did a bit of digging and there is no public REST API endpoint to modify quick filters, so one could not automate what you describe from a list of group members.  Here are the suggestions for that one:
