Kanban Company Managed Project configuration impacts

We currently use Jira Work Management at my company, but are considering upgrading to Premium so we can use Roadmaps. As part of a Premium trial, our instance was upgraded, but we are wanting to create just one project to use roadmaps without impacting all the live projects in our instance. In selecting the "Kanban" project type, I can see we want the Company Managed version, but it says that there is "Standardized configuration shared across projects", while in team managed it says "Settings do not impact other projects" (which makes it sound like it explicitly impacts settings in existing projects). Is there a way to use roadmaps without it altering our live projects?

It won’t impact existing projects particularly your team managed projects. The point with CMP projects is that they can share schemes, issue types etc. However, they don’t have to.

When you create the first project it will be all alone and not impacting any other project. However, let’s assume you create a second CMP project. If at that time you happen to reference or use the workflows, schemes, issue types, etc. associated with the first CMP project then they share that association. Therefore, if changes are made to one of the shared items then indeed it will impact the other project. But again when you create that second project you don’t have to share anything associated with the first project if you don’t wish to. Stated another way, CMP projects may or may not share with other CMP projects.
