Jira work items are full, but only 587 work items available

Any thoughts why this is happening ? Is this some sort of glitch from Jira ? or is my backlog really full ?

Hello, Good day. Do you have many sub-task work items?

Yes there's alot of sub tasks created by our automations. But These numbers dont relate to Jira's warning message at all.

Sub-task will be counted in the backlog as well. Please run the following REST API call to get the exact count on the board.

GET /rest/agile/1.0/board/{boardId}/issue

I deleted like 300 of those sub-tasks, but the count shown in the warning didnt change. How do I run the API call? Im not sure. Thanks for your assistance
