Jira and Bitbucket is dreadfully slow accessing from Centurion, South Africa

On Fibre and 5G connections.

The IP for Jira 18.184.99.129 (https://cartrack.atlassian.net/) resolves to Frankfurt, Germany.

Is it possible to access Jira on a local URL instead? or improve the connection/speed?

Ok so that was 2 years ago.... I am in George Western Cape with Staff in Cape Town and Johannesburg and we are all experiencing ridiculous latency issues. Its cant be blamed on distance???

There's no way to get more local - Frankfurt is your nearest Cloud server-farm.  (Others, from memory are Republic of Ireland, Singapore, Australia and a couple in the US).  So I am afraid you are stuck with the distance-related latency.
