Jira custom field missing / broken

Hello we face a problem with one of our custom textfields. Customers told us, that a specific textfield in our Edit Screens is broke since the textfield itself is missing and only the label is shown as seen in my screenshot. Also the format of the field is a bit awkward since it is displayed a bit asymetrical in the screen regarding to the distance that the other labels have.

I already removed it from the screen, put it back in, dragged it to another position it is always buggy.

Another problem with the same field in other projects is, that this field is generally missing in these screens and not shown at all, altough it should be there like in the case above. Any idea why this custom textfield is bugging around now and disappearing from screens? Haven't changed anything on the screens since we implemented them and it worked fine until now.

INFO: Field Configuration is default so the field is not hidden or something like this and there are no beahviours for this field or context.

I can't explain it why it happens, but maybe I have some pointers for you to get to a solution:

• Did you try to check the field with the Admin Helper? Does it show any problem?
• Is the field a usual text field added via the Jira UI? Or is it a field provided by a third-party app?
• Can you still view this field for issues which have a value?
• Is the field editable via the Jira REST API?

Maybe these pointers help you to get to a solution, otherwise I suggest to ask Atlassian's support.

Hi since I have no real REST skills, I can't tell you about that. But the following points got these results:

• Admin Helper saying everything ok (except that the field is not visible on view screen because it ahs no value, which is normal)
• Yes it is a usual text field added frpom Jira admin issue section but we use this field also in a script runner web fragment to display it's information also in linked issues in a seperate panel. Panel still working fine.
• Yes I can view the field on the view screen for issues which have a value set. Problem here is, when I click on it for inline edit, it gets buggy and my cursor moves a line upwards and the inline edit box disappears like the box on the edit screen. Also my keyboard inputs have no affect and when i save my inputs no changes are displayed.
• Can't tell you about that.

I'd suggest to ask Atlassian's support directly - or maybe someone else has an idea?

Ok, turned out a colleague added some HTML / CSS in the description of several fields. gg
