Hello,
I’m experiencing an issue where a Jira board that I previously used has suddenly disappeared from my account.
Here are the details:
The board was visible and working before
I did not intentionally delete the board
It no longer appears under Boards → View all boards
I’m not sure if it was deleted or if I lost permissions
I still have access to the related project, but the board itself is missing
I would like to know:
How can I verify if the board has been deleted?
If it was deleted, is there any way to restore it?
If it’s a permissions issue, how can I regain access?
Are there audit logs or history that can help identify what happened?
Any guidance on how to recover the board or recreate it safely would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
This usually comes down to either permissions or the board being deleted or renamed. First, ask a Jira admin to check Global permissions → Browse users and groups and confirm you still have board access, then review the Audit log to see if the board was deleted or modified. If it was deleted, boards can’t be restored, but an admin can recreate it using the same filter. Since you still have project access, chances are the filter or permissions changed rather than the board being permanently lost.
Hey @Alaa Shaheen ,
Boards could disappear from your view if you lose access to the board's filter or if the filter is set to private. For example, if the board's filter is owned by another user and is private, you will not see the board.
There's a Jira audit log, but the thing is, it's not tracking board deletions or all board-related actions 😕
If the board was deleted, there's no built-in way to restore it. You would need to manually recreate the board and reapply the filter and configs.
This article might be helpful as well: "Don't have permission to access board based on its filter" error in Jira
