Jira Testing

May I ask if it is possible to set a workflow status "Approved" in the "Releases", instead of just unscheduled or scheduled?

Also, can we attach some files in the test executions so we can avoid open an issue again?

Lastly, may I also know about what is the use case of Component?

Thanks

Welcome to the community @Ky M

  • For changing the statuses for Releases cannot be changed as this is a hard coded feature
  • Yes, you can attach the files in text executions, make sure you have the Create attachments permission in the project
  • Components are being used to group issues based on something specific for e.g., API can be a component, which will be used accross ONE project. This is the main difference between component and label - labels are used as a global context

For Q2, isn't creating a test execution requires opening an issue?

what if i want not to open an new issue for the test case, and allow uploading attachments to the "Release"?

For uploading the attachments for the Release you can use the Conditions within the transition and only allow certain users or groups to upload the attachments. Then you would need to use the post-function to add the attachments. Native Jira doesn't have the option for this, so an app JWME would need to be used to tackle this issue.
